Avonlea Minerals Limited is an Australian exploration company based in Perth, Western Australia. While Avonlea has gold and base metal interests in Central Queensland and iron ore rights to the Diemals Iron Ore Project in Western Australia, the Company's focus has become its Exclusive Prospecting Licences ("EPLs") in Namibia. Namibia is generally considered one of the more desirable places in Africa to explore for minerals, based on the stable political and mining friendly environment. Avonlea acquired 95% of the issued capital in Eris Mining (Pty) Ltd a Namibia incorporated exploration company in May 2009.

Eris has since commenced exploration on its EPL's which are considered highly prospective for iron ore, copper, gold and rare earths/metals. Eris also holds a large Exclusive Reconnaissance Licence ("ERL"). Collectively, these licences provide scope to explore approximately 12,000km2.

Avonlea has embarked upon an aggressive exploration program on EPL 4129 ("Okatumba") with the aim of confirming the presence of large scale, magnetite rich Iron Ore mineralisation. Initial results have been extremely encouraging, with intial surface channel sample results yielding 580 line meters @ 20% Fe, 300 line meters at 23% Fe, 70m at 28% Fe, 60 line meters at 27% Fe and significant grab sample returning 45%, 49% and 50% Fe.  Additional surface channel sample results have confirmed the presence of multiple high grade magnetite rich zones at the Hammerhead prospect located within EPL 4129. Results include 40m @ 30% Fe, including 10m@ 50% Fe, 40m @ 37% Fe, and 30m @ 31% Fe. 

Whilst the program has initially focussed on the Fe potential, consideration has also been directed to the base and precision metal potential as part of the exploration activities. As a result, high grade base metal mineralisation outcropping has been identified in close proximity to Fe mineralisation. Rock chip sample results include 15.9% Copper and 414g/t Silver.
